This is a lovely story. I’ve known mothers who were able to plan the “perfect” spacing of their kids, but most of us traveled a different path. My first pregnancy, like yours, was unplanned, not long after I was married, and in my early 20’s. My first 2 kids were spaced 20 minutes apart (so not the plan). After having twins, it took a long time before I was ready for another child. People thought we were nuts for having another when the older 2 were 10. (They thought she was a “surprise,” but she was the one who was planned.) I had 2 extra helpers and the relationship between the older kids and their baby sister is a beautiful thing. I couldn’t have planned it better.
